Birth Story

Our Seven Qtpies is having a Birth Story Contest!
So here's mine.
The day I thought I might be pregnant, I went to my moms doctors office where she works and took the test. This one I passed. I was thrilled and scared at the same time. I had a miscarriage almost a year to that day.
I went home and wrapped up the test in a lovely black box with a red ribbon. Hubby opened it and said..."This is better than a puppy!"
Fast forward 6 mths and you have a bloated, grumpy bed-ridden woman. I had the best acid reflux and migraines I had ever had. Lying there in bed I was ready for this kid to come out, then he would start kicking and I wanted to stay in that moment forever.
One day I went to a normal doctors appointment when she informed me that I would be admitted me into the hospital for the rest of my pregnancy. I was not yet 7 months and I had pre eclampsia. There they started me on Magnesium sulfate(Holy hot potatoes that sucked!)and the waiting began.
Three days later I woke up and felt antsy, scared. Then my prayers were answered and two wonderful men from my church came and gave me a blessing. Peace and calm came over me and I knew that everything would be alright.
An hour later I couldn't breath and they took and X-ray of my chest. I had fluid in my lungs...so they rushed me to have a C-section.
As they are wheeling me out hubby is running down the hall with a balloon and flowers. Everything else was a blur. Hubby says that less than 5 mins after I went into the operating room that our son came out.
I woke up with doctors, nurses and my mom hovering over me, I touched my belly and it was empty. That was by far the scariest feeling I had ever had.
I had gotten Toxemia and had to stay put, I didn't get to see him for 3 days see I also have a bleeding disorder that prevented me from going to him.
He weighed 2.10 pounds, had jaundice, breathing problems and looked like a hairy little monkey...he was beautiful.
Today he is three and has no medical problems. I can't have any more children, and that's okay. See I was given the greatest miracle of all and his name is Nicholas.

I could cry! Not just because I am pregnant and cry at every birth story, but because this one is a true miracle! What a story! You are very blessed that everything worked out well!

What a blessing that he is doing so well. I used to work in the neonatal intensive care nit in Twin Falls, Idaho and a lot of preemies do have lasting health problems. I am so glad Nicholas is doing great!

This is an absolutely lovely story - and you tell it so beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing...

(I'm also a member of the "there aren't going to be anymore" club. I know that this makes some people feel sad, and feel sorry for me. How can that be? You and I have both been blessed with such amazing gifts - these wonderful, lovely, healthy sons? More might have been nice - but there's nothing to regret...)
