Weekend Fun

We went up to Strasburg Pa. to see and ride on the "real" Thomas the Tank Engine.
I remember going up to Strasburg as a kid and riding the huge black train and being amazed at the sites and sounds. It still held true for me now. I had as much fun as my son. So did Hubby who couldn't stop taking pictures and geeking out over all the train parts.
The Thomas ride its self was kinda lame. It was about a 20 minutes long and really bumpy. However, they did have other fun things to do like, ride on a miniature-size version of the steam train. We also road on a Caboose and a Pump cart too.
The Coal burning steam train was wonderful. It's about an hour ride and there is ton of information given on the history of the area.
We ended up eating dinner at the place I use to stay as a kid 'The Red Caboose Motel'. It is so neat all the rooms are in Caboose's next year we will be staying overnight.

I have always wanted to go there to see Thomas. My boys are big Thomas fans. Tomorrow I'm posting pictures of us back in May when we took the kids to the day out with Thomas back in May when it was about an hour from us. Then on friday I'm posting some old pictures from 2003 when we took the kids to NC. to the day out with Thomas. One day I hope to do the PA one.

We went on vacation up that way last year. We rode the black train and enjoyed the beautiful fall scenery. I enjoyed seeing alot of the Amish villages since I had read several Amish novels before coming up there.

Awww... I remember the days of the "Thomas the Tank" obsession. You're so right - the actual ride *is* kind of lame, but the way it's so real for the kids? Magical....
